Schneider Electric, Petra Engineering partner to advance Saudi data centres
RIYADH, October 3, 2025 – Schneider Electric has signed a strategic partnership with Saudi-based Petra Engineering Industries Company to supply high-efficiency cooling systems for the country’s expanding data centre infrastructure, the companies announced earlier this week.
Under the deal, the two parties will roll out a new line of Premium Efficiency Air-Cooled Chillers aimed at reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions in Saudi data centres, which have grown capacity by 42% since 2023. The agreement was formalised during the Schneider Electric Innovation Summit in Riyadh.

“This partnership reflects our commitment to local manufacturing and to helping Saudi Arabia achieve its Vision 2030 goals,” Schneider Electric vice-president Mohamed Shaheen said. He added that the local production of chillers will help shorten supply chains and support Saudi localisation objectives.
The move also complements Schneider’s broader strategy in Saudi Arabia: in 2025 the company acquired a controlling stake in Motivair, a specialist in liquid cooling systems, to bolster its cooling portfolio for high-density computing. In parallel, Schneider has signed several MoUs in the Kingdom with companies such as Dulb and Edarat to deploy smart energy management, decarbonisation and digital infrastructure solutions.
Saudi Arabia’s data centre market is receiving heavy state support: the Kingdom has unveiled plans for hyperscale data centre investments worth up to USD 18 billion and aims to reach 1.3 GW of capacity by 2030. Given the region’s high ambient temperatures, efficient cooling accounts for a major share of operational costs—making advanced chiller systems a key differentiator in total cost of ownership.
Schneider Electric is a global leader in energy management and automation, providing digital solutions across buildings, data centres, infrastructure and industries. In Saudi Arabia, the company focuses on supporting localisation and sustainability goals through innovation and industrial partnerships.
Petra Engineering Industries Company is a leading HVAC systems manufacturer headquartered in Jordan, with operations across the Middle East and Asia.
