ExxonMobil Mozambique

A partner in Mozambique’s future

ExxonMobil Mozambique operates three offshore blocks, A5-B in the Angoche Basin and Z5-C and Z5-B in the Zambezi Delta. It is also active in Area 4 and its related Rovuma LNG and Coral South FLNG projects. Before its 2015 entry into the upstream market, the company was already active in Mozambique as a retailer, selling refined products such as fuels, oils and waxes.

  • Rovuma LNG: ExxonMobil holds a 7% direct stake in Mozambique Rovuma Venture, which it leads, and a 25% indirect stake in Area 4.
  • Coral FLNG: ExxonMobil is active in the Eni-led Coral South FLNG project through its stake in Area 4.

The company’s FID on the USD 30-billion Rovuma LNG project is expected in 2021. In a 2020 interview, general manager Jos Evens told The Energy Year the company is also looking forward to participating in Mozambique’s sixth bidding round.
