The Oil & Gas Year, in association with EY, the Federal Electricity Commission, Galem Energy and Cotemar, conducted its third strategic roundtable for Mexico on December 7, 2017. The event was held at St Regis in Mexico City.
Ernesto Marcos, general director of Marcos y Asociados, and Benjamin Torres-Barron, energy, mining and infrastructure practice group leader at Baker McKenzie, moderated the panel discussion.
The event, titled “The liberalised sector in Mexico – path towards consolidation,” covered a number of themes including the transforming effect of regulations in creating an attractive investment environment in Mexico’s upstream sector; farm-outs, JVs and partnerships with Pemex for the development of a competitive and efficient national oil and gas industry; the future of Mexico’s natural gas production and supply under the country’s new energy reform measures; the emerging opportunities in Mexico’s midstream infrastructure to link upstream success with the downstream sector; and the role of local content across the Mexican oil and gas value chain.
