Abu Dhabi awards $1.36-bln marine construction deal

Abu Dhabi’s ADNOC has awarded a USD 1.36-billion contract for marine construction for the Ghasha sour gas concession to the UAE’s National Marine Dredging Company, the NOC said on Wednesday.

The 38-month project covers dredging, land reclamation and marine construction for 10 artificial islands to support the gas development. It also includes two causeways and the expansion of an existing artificial island.

The Ghasha development is expected to produce around 42.5 mcm (1.5 bcf) per day of sour gas and supply 20% of the UAE’s gas demand. It will also contribute more than 120,000 boepd of oil and condensate.
