ADNOC awards $136-mln contract for artificial islands

ADNOC has awarded a contract to the UAE’s National Marine Dredging Company to construct an artificial island as part of the NOC’s oil and gas expansion scheme, Upstream Online reported on Monday.

The USD 136-million deal involves construction of the Al Nouf artificial island as part of ADNOC’s plan to up production at the Al Nouf oilfield to at least 15,000 bopd.

The deal was announced in a statement to the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange.

Exact responsibilities associated with the contract were not disclosed.

In October 2023, ADNOC hired National Petroleum Construction Company and Saipem to build offshore facilities including artificial islands and subsea pipelines for the giant Hail and Ghasha gasfield project in the UAE.

In June 2023, ADNOC Logistics and Services signed a USD 975-million deal with ADNOC Offshore to build an artificial island in the UAE’s Lower Zakum field.
