Aker takes over Hess Ghana blocks

Aker Energy Ghana has completed its takeover of Hess Ghana, becoming operator of the Deepwater Tano/Cape Three Points block, the company announced on Friday.

The company said it planned to submit a plan of development in H2 2018 and expected first oil in Q4 2021.

“The development concept will build on experience derived from operations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. At the same time, the Pecan discovery is located in ultra-deep waters offshore of Ghana, challenging us to explore new and innovative ideas to identify the best development solution,” Jan Arve Haugan, the CEO of Aker Energy, said in a statement.

Located 110 kilometres offshore Ghana in the Gulf of Guinea, adjacent to Deepwater Tano and West Cape Three Points, Deepwater Tano/Cape Three Points is an ultra-deepwater block with an approximately 2,100-square-kilometre area and water depth of 2,000 metres. The block consists of five oilfields – Almond, Beech, Cob, Pecan and Pecan North – and two gasfields: Hickory North and Paradise.
