Argentina province puts blocks on auction

The Argentinian province of Tierra del Fuego has launched a tender for two onshore blocks, international media reported on Tuesday.

Proposals for blocks CA12-I and CA12-II are due in April, and regulators will open them in May, making final awards in June.

“I hope that this tender generates expectations not only on the local level, but nationally and internationally,” Tierra del Fuego Governor Rosana Bertone said at the auction presentation in Buenos Aires.

So far, the two companies that have expressed interest are YPF for the 2,098-square-kilometre CA12-I area, and Great Northern Canadian Holding for CA12-II, which spans 1,985 square kilometres.
