Australia and Germany earmark $90 mln for green hydrogen production
Australia The funds are based on an agreement signed in June 2021 to develop green hydrogen production and trade through the development of four project under the German-Australian Hydrogen Innovation and Technology Incubator programme.
Under the initiative USD 28.3 million was awarded to concentrating solar-thermal power entity Vast Solar and Solar Methanol Consortium to build a 10-MW facility in Port Augusta, Australia, that will produce green hydrogen for solar methanol production.
Additionally, a USD 6.39-million grant was given to Australian hydrogen electrolyser developer Hysata and Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology to develop a low-cost hydrogen facility in Port Kembla, Australia.
