The funds are based on an agreement signed in June 2021 to develop green hydrogen production and trade through the development of four project under the German-Australian Hydrogen Innovation and Technology Incubator programme.
Under the initiative USD 28.3 million was awarded to concentrating solar-thermal power entity Vast Solar and Solar Methanol Consortium to build a 10-MW facility in Port Augusta, Australia, that will produce green hydrogen for solar methanol production.
Additionally, a USD 6.39-million grant was given to Australian hydrogen electrolyser developer Hysata and Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology to develop a low-cost hydrogen facility in Port Kembla, Australia.
