BP Oman readies Ghazeer launch

BP Oman is set to launch production at its Ghazeer gas project, with 99% of installations now completed, the company told local media.

The project is set to add 14.2 mcm (500 mcf) per day to the company’s production at the giant Khazzan gas project, bringing its total output to 42.5 mcm (1.5 bcf) per day. Khazzan also produces 35,000 boepd of condensates, a figure which will double when Ghazeer comes on line.

BP Oman chairman Yousef bin Mohammed Al Ojaili made the announcement to the Oman News Agency on Saturday, noting that the company had so far carried out USD 9.3 billion of its planned USD 16 billion investment in Block 61.
