Within Block RJ-ON-90/1, the funds will be directed to polymer flooding at the Mangala and Aishwariya oilfields. Other targets for development include the Bhagyam field and company’s Rageshwari deep gas development.
Block RJ-ON-90/1 produced about 165,000 boepd in Q3 2016. Cairn has produced some 300 million barrels of oil from the block so far. The Mangala, Aishwariya and Bhagyam fields together are though to have a resource base of 2 billion barrels. Cairn’s PSC for the block expires in 2020 and the company has eagerly been pursuing a 10-year extension.
Cairn India produced 30% of the oil in India and has ambitions to increase this to 50%. Outside of the Rajasthan block, Cairn is planning to develop some of its offshore acreage in its Palar and Krishna Godivari basin blocks on the east coast of the country.
