Courts reject Alaskan Willow project
USA The decision overturned the Bureau of Land Management’s and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s approval of the project based on problems with the environmental impact analysis, which did not include projected greenhouse gas emissions or enough alternatives.
The proposed Willow oil project would sit in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska, land which is set aside for oil and gas production.
“This is a horrible decision. We are giving America over to our enemies piece by piece. The Willow project would power America with 160,000 barrels a day, provide 1,000s of family-supporting jobs and greatly benefit the people of Alaska,” said Alaskan Governor Mike Dunleavy.
