Deal signed for Ghana’s Tema LNG Terminal

The Tema LNG Terminal company has signed a deal with China Harbour Engineering Company on the construction of the Tema LNG facility, local media reported Sunday.

China Harbour Engineering, which is also involved in the current Tema port expansion project, will construct the marine facilities, and Jiangnan Shipyard has been tapped to build the floating regasification facility, Ghana News Agency reported.

“If we are going to succeed in pushing the industrial development of our country rapidly, the supply of gas, which will mean even more affordable rates of power, to our country is now a matter of very great importance for us,” President Nana Akufo-Addo said at the signing ceremony.

The terminal, which is expected to be completed in 18 months, is set to be the first regasification terminal in sub-Saharan Africa.
