Dry well hit in Norway’s North Sea
Norway The first exploration well on the licence was drilled to depths of 2,140 metres below sea level under 100 metres of water.
The 16/2-12 well encountered 58 metres of sandstone in the Ty formation with good to very good reservoir quality.
The secondary target in the Zechstein Group hit 12 metres of dolomitic rock with poor to moderate reservoir quality.
Drilling also encountered two intervals of sandstone from an undefined age with 16 metres of moderate to good reservoir quality.
The semi-submersible rig Deepsea Stavanger has moved on to drill well 17/8 on the same block.
