In a statement, Ecopetrol said it “installed containment barriers upstream of the spill’s natural channel and two portable storage tanks and began the extraction of the crude” on Wednesday. The NOC began pipeline repairs yesterday.
At the time of the bombing, the 76th attack on the Caño Limón pipeline this year, the line was out of operation.
As of Thursday, the assailants had not been publicly named, though members of the guerrilla National Liberation Army are suspected to be behind the attack.
The incident follows the bombing of an evacuation pipeline belonging to Gran Tierra in the Putumayo department earlier this week.
