Eni hits large offshore gas find offshore Abu Dhabi

A consortium led by super-major Eni and Thailand’s PTT Exploration and Production Public Company have discovered between 42.5-56.6 mcm (1.5-2 tcf) of gas in place on an offshore concession in the UAE, NOC Abu Dhabi National Oil Company announced today.

Block 2 covers an area of 4,000 kilometres northwest of Abu Dhabi.

The discovery follows a significant find on the onshore Block 4 concession in the UAE of up to 1 billion boe in December 2021.

Exploration efforts are part of the world’s largest combined onshore and offshore 3D seismic survey currently underway in the UAE.
