First LNG cargo sails from Louisiana facility

USA

CAMERON, March 2, 2022 – Venture Global LNG and Japanese energy company JERA have successfully set off the first cargo from the Calcasieu Pass LNG export facility in Louisiana, the American LNG provider announced on Tuesday.

The cargo was loaded on JERA’s Yiannis transport vessel bound for Europe. The exact destination was not disclosed.

The Calcasieu Pass LNG project has the capacity to produce 10 million tonnes per year of LNG through its 18 liquefaction trains.

The development is the world’s fastest large-scale greenfield facility ever built, with only 29 months between final investment decision and LNG production.

The facility brings up US LNG export capacity to 377 mcm (13.3 bcf) per day.
