Foxtrot hits oil off Côte d’Ivoire

Côte d’Ivoire-focused independent Foxtrot International struck oil and natural gas offshore the country yesterday in the Turonian and Lower Senonian intervals of its 2,790-metre Martin North-1 well.

The 22-metre interval in the Turonian produced continuous gas flow at a rate of 707,921 cubic metres (25 mcf) per day. The Lower Senonian section produced at a rate of 1,525 barrels of oil and 17,000 cubic metres (600,000 cubic feet) of gas per day.

Foxtrot is the operator of the CI-27 block with a 27.5-percent interest. Ivory Coast State Energy Petroci holds a 45-percent stake and SAUR Enerci has a 27.5-percent share in the block.

Block CI-27 produced 70 percent of the Côte d’Ivoire’s total gas in 2014, yielding an average 4.6 mcm (142.6 mcf) per day.

Côte d’Ivoire is looking to develop oil and gas resources offshore following years of political instability. The country filed a suit last year under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea to resolve a border dispute with Ghana in an area that includes the Tweneboa, Enyenra, and Ntomme fields.
