Frontera and CGX up reserves in Guyana

GEORGETOWN, May 10, 2022 – Frontera Energy Corporation and CGX Energy have upped encountered reserves on the Kawa-1 exploration well on the Corentyne block offshore Guyana, the Canadian E&P partners announced on Monday.

Integrated results showed a 15-metre increase in hydrocarbons-bearing reservoirs from its initial discovery of 54 metres in the Maastrichtian, Campanian, Santonian and Coniacian horizons.

The Kawa-1 well was drilled in water depths of around 355 metres to 6,580 metres in the northern section of the block in January 2022.

The find significantly de-risks the planned Wei-1 exploration well in Q3 2022, which will sit 14 kilometres northwest of the Kawa-1 well and around 200 kilometres from Georgetown.

The second exploration well will be drilled in water depths of around 583 metres to a targeted depth of 6,250 metres.
