Gas leaks plague Barzan project
Qatar Barzan gas project
Slated to start in November, the Barzan gas project was expected to raise Qatar’s gas production capacity by some 56.6 mcm (2 bcf) per day by mid-2017. “There was a gas leakage in one of the project’s upstream pipelines, the impact of which is still being assessed,” Doha-based sources were quoted as saying by Reuters. They also added a 2016 start-up was now “unlikely.”
The Barzan gas project is operated by RasGas, a joint venture company set up in 2001 by Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil.
