GeoPark strikes gas in Chile

Chile
GeoPark has encountered gas in the Uaken-1 exploration well onshore Chile, the company announced on Wednesday.

The independent holds a 100% interest in the Fell block, where the discovery was made. No data about the block’s total reserves estimates was immediately available.

“The Uaken gasfield discovery in the shallow El Salto formation provides additional low-cost production and creates a new gas play across the Fell block that can be tested in identified leads and prospects,” GeoPark said in a statement. “In addition, there are multiple wells in already discovered oil and gasfields within the Fell block that can be re-entered to test this formation.”
