Green light for Texas biorefinery

USA
Renewable fuels company USA BioEnergy will build a USD 1.7-billion biorefinery in Bon Wier, Texas, the US State of Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced on Tuesday.

Subsidiary Texas Renewable Funds will use 1 million tonnes of wood waste to create 154 million litres of biofuels per year, including sustainable aviation fuel, renewable diesel and renewable naphtha.

The company plans to double annual production to 309 million litres per year of biofuel in future phases.

The facility will capture and sequester around 500 million tonnes of carbon dioxide over its lifespan.
