Indonesia to offer 11 oil and gas blocks

Indonesia’s government will offer 11 new oil and gas blocks to investors in a tender this month, the country’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources announced on Monday.

The government plans to hold the bidding tender in the middle of August as part of an effort to boost the country’s oil and gas reserves. Out of the 11 blocks to be offered, there will be three conventional and three nonconventional blocks available through direct offer, and five conventional blocks will be offered under the regular tender scheme.

The tender scheme will be held online as part of the government’s efforts for a transparent and efficient bidding process. With 317 production-sharing contracts, only 62 out of the country’s 80 oil and gas blocks are in operation. An additional 182 blocks are currently being explored.

The blocks offered through regular tender are Rupat Labuhan, West Asri, Oti, North Adang and Kasuri 2. The blocks available through direct offer are North Jabung, Southwest Benggana, West Berau, Blora Deep, Batu Ampar and Sentral Bangkani.
