NEGI will link the Northern Territory with Queensland, filling a gap in the country’s distribution grid in addition to creating jobs and providing cheaper energy for locals at a targeted price of $6-8 per gigajoule. The project will come online in 2018.
The 622-kilometre, north-south pipeline will supply gas for export operations from the $60-billion LNG projects in Gladstone port, which are scheduled for completion in 2019, as well as the mining industry customers in Queensland.
