Largest US auction to take place in March

USA
The US government has announced the date for the largest oil and gas lease sale in the country’s history, the Department of the Interior announced on Friday.

About 313,000 square kilometres offshore Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida will be put on offer at Lease Sale 250 on March 21, 2018, the statement added.

“Responsibly developing our offshore energy resources is a major pillar of President [Donald] Trump’s American Energy Dominance strategy,” said Deputy Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt.

“We have the strongest safety regulations in the world and today’s technology is making the responsible development of our resources even safer. We look forward to this important sale and continuing to raise energy revenues, which fund efforts to help safeguard our natural areas, water resources and cultural heritage, and to provide recreation opportunities to all Americans.”
