Larsen & Toubro bags billion-dollar EPCI contract

Larsen & Toubro has signed a contract worth between USD 1.2 billion and USD 1.8 billion for a project in the Middle East, the Indian engineering giant announced on Monday.

The scope of the work includes EPCI of an offshore platform and integrating it with existing facilities.

According to Upstream Online’s sources, the work is for the Ruya development at Qatar’s Al Shaheen oilfield overseen by North Oil Company.

North Oil Company is a joint venture between French energy giant TotalEnergies and NOC QatarEnergy.

“This mega order from a new customer reaffirms global acknowledgment of our capabilities and marks a key milestone for our offshore business,” said Subramanian Sarma, whole-time director and senior executive vice-president of energy of Larsen & Toubro.

Al Shaheen is Qatar’s largest offshore oilfield located 180 kilometres from Doha on Block 5.

The Ruya project is the latest expansion of the field with expected peak production rates of 300,000 bopd.

Al Shaheen field is expected to currently produce around 600,000 bopd.
