McDermott awards camp services for Uganda project

GCC Services has signed a contract with Houston-based engineering company McDermott for integrated remote site services on the Tilenga project in Uganda, the Dubai-based facilities management services company announced on Monday.

The six-year contract for camp management, catering, and camp support services at the upstream facilities on Lake Albert Basin will begin in February 2022.

GCC Services will provide services for up to 3,500 employees.

The Tilenga project operated by TotalEnergies will have a capacity of 190,000-700,000 bopd.

The Tilenga and connected East African Crude Oil Pipeline is expected to generate 58,000 direct jobs, USD 2.1 million work hours and USD 1.7 billion in work contracts for local players. The development is expected to add USD 10 million to Uganda and Tanzania’s economies.
