Iraq’s NOC deputy inspector assassinated
Kurdistan Region of Iraq Two NOC officials speaking under the condition of anonymity told Reuters that Salim was conducting a corruption probe inside the company. NOC chief of operations Saad Al Karbalaie and his successor and chief engineer Saad Al Hussain were also gunned down in June and July, respectively.
Kirkuk is a city in the north under Kurdish control, which is disputed by Arabs and Turkmens. While there has been fewer bombings in the city since the Kurdistan Regional Government took over in June 2014, a wave of assassinations has shaken the city.
