The company’s subsidiary Perenco Oil & Gas Gabon (POGG) achieved initial flows of 3,000 bopd from the Hylia South West-1 well.
The project involves a self-elevated platform and 10-kilometre pipeline that links it to established infrastructure at the Hylia field.
The well was drilled in December 2022 and encountered a 40-metre oil-bearing column. The well was spud using the Banba jackup rig.
“The Hylia South West discovery is another success in POGG’s ongoing ambitious exploration campaign. It comes only a few months after the Wamba discovery, which is still producing 2000 bopd,” said Adrien Broche, general manager of POGG.
“More exploration wells are planned to be drilled offshore and onshore Gabon in the coming months, including at both Wamba and Igonguino.”
