Petrobras to drill two wells in Colombia’s Tayrona block

Brazil’s Petrobras plans to drill two exploration wells in Colombia’s Tayrona block, Argus reported on Tuesday.

Chief exploration and production officer Joelson Mendes was cited discussing the plans on Tuesday at the CERAWeek by S&P Global Conference in Houston.

The Tayrona block is located around 40 kilometres offshore Colombia in its Caribbean maritime zone and is held 56.6% by NOC Ecopetrol and 44.4% by Petrobras.

In February, Ecopetrol announced two new gas finds on the block, which is situated in water depths of 706 metres.

The appraisal drilling campaign was conducted with the Noble Discoverer semi-sub.
