Republic of Congo to raise output

Republic of Congo forecasts an increase in domestic production of some 50,000 bopd over the next two years, Hydrocarbons Minister Jean-Marc Thystère-Tchicaya said on Thursday.

Speaking at The Oil & Gas Year Strategic Round Table event in Brazzaville, the minister said Moho Nord phase three coming on stream in March of April would be instrumental in achieving greater output. “From mid-2017 we can already count on an increase in production and then reach a peak in 2018 with 300,000 barrels per day,” Thystère-Tchicaya said.

Located 75 kilometres off Pointe Noire, Total’s USD 10-billion Moho Nord is the largest oil project in the history of the country and the biggest to be developed in the Moho-Bilondo block. Total E&P Congo holds an operating interest of 53.5% in the licence. Chevron and Congolese NOC Société Nationale des Pétroles du Congo are partners in the field, respectively holding 31.5% and 15%. The project has a lifecycle of 30 years and its facilities are designed to have minimal environmental impact.
