Saipem wins $1.7-billion Qatar contract

Saipem has secured a contract worth USD 1.7 billion to provide EPCI for Qatar’s giant North Field Expansion project, the Italian EPC major confirmed on Monday.

The contract was awarded by North Field operator Qatargas.

Its scope covers offshore gas production and transportation facilities including platforms, supporting and connecting structures, subsea cables and anticorrosion internally cladded pipelines, as well as the decommissioning of a pipeline and various other modifications.

Pipe-lay operations will be undertaken using the Saipem-operated DE HE vessel.

Saipem also confirmed it had received a letter of intent from Qatargas for a package covering offshore export pipelines and related onshore works for the same project.
