Saudi Aramco awards sizeable seismic works

Saudi Aramco has signed multiple contracts with Chinese geophysics services giant BGP for onshore and offshore seismic surveys, Upstream Online reported on Wednesday.

According to sources, the deals include two onshore 3D seismic surveys and three offshore 3D seismic surveys covering 30,000 square kilometres in shallow waters.

The onshore developments encompass project numbers S90 and S92 and are expected to begin in six months and last five years. Offshore developments encompass project numbers S89, S91 and S93.

The deals are expected to be worth as much as USD 2.6 billion, with onshore works worth up to USD 600 million and offshore works worth up to USD 2 billion.

In March 2023, BGP completed onshore and offshore seismic studies in UAE for Emirati NOC ADNOC under a USD 1.6-billion contract awarded in 2018.
