Seatrium and Shell renew ship repair contract

Seatrium has resigned a favoured customer contract with Shell International Trading and Shipping Company and GasLog LNG Services to service LNG carriers, the Singaporean marine engineering company announced on Wednesday.

The deal will see Seatrium provide repairs, refurbishment and upgrades for the two partners’ combined fleet of 43 LNG carriers in Southeast Asia from 2024 to 2029.

The partnership will also support joint planning and knowledge exchange to achieve health, safety and environment, quality, cost efficiency and delivery targets.

“We have enjoyed many years of partnership to refit the majority of our fleet here and trusted Seatrium in the conversion of our FSRU,” said Kostas Karathanos, COO of GasLog LNG Services.

“Partnering with world-class vessel owners increases our market share of LNG repairs and upgrades and enhances our capabilities as a world-class shipyard group. The selection of Seatrium as the LNG refit partner in Singapore is a major boost to Singapore’s status as a major global hub,” said Alvin Gan, executive vice-president of repairs and upgrades of Seatrium.

In November 2023, Seatrium delivered Greece’s first FSRU to Greek LNG fleet owner GasLog LNG Services at the Port of Alexandroupolis.

Seatrium (formerly Sembcorp Marine) has completed conversions of 11 FSRUs since 2007, including the world’s first.
