The 400-kilometre asset will run from Ulanqab to Beijing and have an initial capacity of 100,000 tonnes per year.
Plans include building ports on the route that will have access to the pipeline.
The project will be the country’s first west-to-east green hydrogen transmission line.
Sinopec intends to build a green hydrogen plant in the Inner Mongolian city of Ordos that will produce 30,000 tonnes per year.
Additionally, the company launched a green hydrogen project in Kuqa in the western Xinjiang region in 2021.
The Chinese energy player has set a goal of producing between 100,000 to 200,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year.
