The daughter of former President José Eduardo dos Santos has been accused of ordering tens of millions of dollars of suspicious payments.
“We have established an internal commission of inquiry to investigate the information published,” Sonangol spokesman Mateus Benza was quoted as saying by AFP. “We are verifying possible misappropriation, but I can’t yet confirm anything.”
According to local media, a USD 67-million transfer to Dubai and a nearly USD 12-million monthly payment to a Portuguese company in which Isabel dos Santos was the main investor are being investigated.
