Subsea 7 selected for Scottish offshore wind project

UK
Subsea 7 has been chosen as a preferred supplier for the Seagreen 1A offshore wind development in Scotland, the subsea engineering company announced on Tuesday.

Subsea 7’s subsidiary Seaway 7 is under negotiation to expand its work on the project, which could include engineering, fabrication, transport and installation of 36 turbine foundations, delivery and installation of the project’s offshore substation and procurement and installation of inner-array cables.

Work on the Seagreen 1A development is expected to begin in 2023, with commissioning expected by 2026.

Cost of the works are expected to be between USD 500 million and USD 750 million.

The 150-turbine Seagreen offshore wind farm in the North Sea is a joint venture by TotalEnergies and SSE Renewables.

The first 114 turbines are already under construction and are expected to be commissioned in 2023.

The final 36 turbines associated with the Seagreen 1A phase will have a capacity of 500 MW.

All work is subject to the FID.
