Technip, GE team up for LNG tech

GE Oil & Gas and Technip have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on developing digital engineering services for greenfield LNG projects, the companies announced on Tuesday.

The agreement will see the companies team up for digital applications that can utilised by engineering, procurement and construction companies during the design, build and commissioning phases of LNG plants. Using GE’s cloud-based operating system Predix, the project “marks the next era of digital application development for the oil and gas sector,” GE Oil & Gas chief digital officer Matthias Heilman said.

Technip, which in May announced a MoU on a merger with US oilfield services equipment provider FMC Technologies, labelled the deal with GE Oil & Gas an opportunity to integrate its “process and design tools with equipment advanced control systems into a common digital platform.” The company’s vice-president of business and technology offshore, Jean-Marc Letournel, also said the MoU would enhance Technip’s “capabilities in providing our clients innovative, credible, affordable and predictable solutions.”
