Technip gets Liza subsea contract

TechnipFMC said on Tuesday it had been contracted to perform the subsea work for the Liza project in offshore Guyana, where recoverable oil reserves are estimated at between 1 billion and 1.4 billion barrels.

The company did not disclose the value of the contract, which it received from an affiliate of ExxonMobil, but said it would engineer, manufacture and deliver 17 enhanced vertical deep water trees, 5 manifolds and associated equipment.

“We are pleased that ExxonMobil has selected TechnipFMC for the Liza subsea equipment,” said TechniFMC’s president for subsea projects Hallvard Hasselknipe in a statement.

“We value our long-term, collaborative relationship with ExxonMobil and we are committed to execution excellence and the successful long-term development of the project in Guyana.”

Exploration work in the area continues. Last month, Hess Corporation said it had hit oil in the Stabroek Block very close to the original discovery, having encountered some 25 metres of “high-quality, oil-bearing sandstone reservoirs.”
