Total brings Moho project on line

Total has brought on line its Moho Phase 1b project located off the coast of the Republic of Congo, the oil major announced in a company statement Friday.

Located 75 kilometres off the coast of Pointe-Noire, the Moho Phase 1b project will include drilling 11 new subsea wells and the installation of two subsea pumps. The wells and pumps will be tied to the floating production unit located in the Moho Bilondo field.

The project is the oil giant’s ninth start in 2015 and will add to the company’s production growth with a capacity of 40,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

The Moho Phase 1b project is a continuation of Total’s offshore ventures in West Africa. “It [the project] follows the start-up of Dalia Phase 1A on Angola’s Block 17 in July this year and more recently, the Lianzi field which straddles the deep offshore of Congo and Angola,” Arnaud Breuillac, president of exploration and production, said in the company statement.
