UAE signs gas export deal with Japanese energy giant

ADNOC Gas has signed a multi-year deal to deliver LNG to Japanese energy company Jera worth between USD 9.4 million and USD 12 billion, the Emirati gas giant announced on Tuesday.

The agreement was signed with Jera’s subsidiary Jera Global Markets.

Commencement date and time span of the agreement were not disclosed.

Previously, ADNOC supplied LNG to one of Jera’s parent companies, Tokyo Electric Power Company, for more than 40 years from its LNG facilities on Das Island.

“This LNG supply agreement marks a significant milestone in ADNOC Gas’ long-standing strategic partnership with Jera, demonstrating our continuous and shared commitment for advancing sustainability in the energy sector and supporting a reliable and cleaner energy future for Japan and beyond,” said Ahmed Alebri, CEO of ADNOC Gas.

The deal follows many LNG deals made by ADNOC Gas in 2023, including a five-year agreement with Japan Petroleum Exploration Company signed in August, a three-year deal with TotalEnergies signed in May 2023 and a 14-year deal with India signed in July 2023.

ADNOC established ADNOC Gas in January 2023 as a separate entity to oversee its gas operations.
