On Monday, Argentine news agency Telam reported that Vaca Muerta output was up 36% year-on-year in October to reach 5 mcm (176 mcf). The largest contributor to the increase was the El Orejano pilot programme, being developed by a 50/50 joint venture of YPF and Dow Chemical’s local subsidiary. Measured from June 2016, when production stood at 4.1 mcm (146.1 mcf), the rise was 21%.
Other major pilot projects in the formation include YPF and Chevron’s Loma Campana development, Pan American Energy’s Bandurria Centro, Total’s Rincon de la Ceniza and Aguada Pichana licences, and a few of ExxonMobil’s developments, such as Bajo del Chioque and Pampa las Yeguas.
