Wentworth discovers gas in Tanzania

Canadian upstream oil and gas company Wentworth Resources announced today that it has discovered gas at the MB-4 development well.

The well, located in the 756-square-kilometre Mnazi bay concession in south Tanzania, was drilled to a total depth of 2,788 metres, targeting the Lower Mnazi bay and the Upper Mnazi bay reservoirs.

Wentworth Resources recorded a flow rate of 628,704 cubic metres per day at the Lower Mnazi bay and 532,416 cubic metres per day at the Upper Mnazi bay reservoir.

It is anticipated that the MB-4 well will be connected to production facilities in the field, currently in construction, during the third quarter of 2015.

The company says that the Mnazi bay gasfield has the potential to produce up to 3.68 mcm per day.

“We are pleased with the outcome of the MB-4 well as the result confirms our reservoir model for the Mnazi bay gasfield,” the managing director of Wentworth Resources, Geoff Bury, said in a company statement.

The company has 31.94 percent net interest in the MB-4 well.
