Wood wins TotalEnergies North Sea flare recovery work

UK
UK engineering contractor Wood has been awarded a decarbonisation project by TotalEnergies to support flare gas recovery in the North Sea, Wood announced on Wednesday.

The project forms part of TotalEnergies plan to reduce its carbon footprint and will redirect gas that would have previously been flared through a new compressor system located offshore to be treated and then reused.

Wood’s contract will run for 23 months and will include the co-ordination of operations, procurement and design aspects for the Elgin gas condensate field in the North Sea.

“Wood is committed to delivering sustainable solutions that contribute to a low carbon future and our teams are well positioned to support TotalEnergies as they execute their ambitious action plan to reduce emissions across their operations,” said Martin Simmonite, senior vice-president for UK Operations at Wood.

The Elgin-Franklin fields are a series of high-pressure, high-temperature reservoirs located in the Central North Sea. They are operated by TotalEnergies with Eni, Harbour Energy, Ithaca Energy, NEO Energy and ONE-Dyas holding non-operated interests.
