YPF commits $340 mln to shale, EOR

Argentina’s state-owned YPF will put USD 340 million towards new exploration and EOR in Santa Cruz, international media reported Thursday.

The NOC signed an agreement with the province’s Private Oil and Gas Union, allowing certain works to move forward, including a 300-well workover campaign and a 33-well exploration programme aimed at “deeper and less permeable areas” such as the shale plays of Neocomiano and Pozo D-129.

“If the different phases of the exploration are successful, this will open a window of opportunities and future for productive development in the province, adding new resources to its matrix,” the company said in a statement.
