Fifteen years after its first commercial oil discovery, Uganda is finally poised to become the newest oil-producing country in East Africa. With a final agreement in place for the export pipeline, the Lake Albert oil developments are now ready to produce first oil by 2024-2025, and new projects are expected to come on line from the current exploration efforts and from the 2020 licensing round awards.
