Baker Hughes lands LNG equipment deal for Texas mega-project
HOUSTON, September 12, 2025 – Baker Hughes has secured an order from Bechtel to supply gas turbine and compressor technology for Train 4 of the Rio Grande LNG facility in Texas, the company said Thursday.
The scope includes two Frame 7 gas turbines and six centrifugal compressors, supporting an additional LNG production capacity of around 6 million tonnes per annum.
The technology mirrors systems used in the facility’s first three trains and is designed to deliver high energy efficiency and lower emissions.
The award follows a broader framework agreement covering Trains 4 through 8 at the NextDecade-operated site in the Port of Brownsville.
“Our selection of Baker Hughes again for the Rio Grande LNG project is a testament to its reliable technology and expertise,” Bechtel general manager for LNG Bhupesh Thakkar said.
Baker Hughes is a global energy technology company headquartered in the US and UK. It provides equipment and services for oilfield operations, LNG, power generation and emissions control in over 120 countries.
In the US market, Baker Hughes plays a key role in supplying core liquefaction and compression technology to LNG projects, supporting national energy exports and infrastructure expansion.
