ADNOC announces FID on offshore deep gas project
ABU DHABI, January 8, 2026 – ADNOC has reached a positive FID on the SARB Deep Gas Development offshore Abu Dhabi, the company announced on Wednesday.
The project, located in the Ghasha concession, is projected to deliver 5.7 mcm (200 mcf) per day of gas by the end of the decade. It will be operated remotely from Arzanah Island and will utilise advanced technologies and artificial intelligence.
Located approximately 120 kilometres offshore, the new development includes an offshore platform with four gas production wells linked to Das Island, where gas will be treated at ADNOC Gas facilities. It will integrate with other ADNOC production projects and support the UAE’s ambitions to increase gas output in order to meet its full domestic demand and boost exports.
“This strategic project within the Ghasha concession reinforces the progress we are making to fully unlock Abu Dhabi’s world-class gas resources, supporting UAE gas self-sufficiency and strengthening the nation’s role as a reliable exporter to international markets,” ADNOC Upstream CEO Musabbeh Al Kaabi said.
The SARB Deep Gas Development will integrate advanced technologies and AI-enabled solutions. Tools developed by AIQ, a joint venture between ADNOC and G42 to develop AI applications for the energy industry, have been deployed at SARB since 2024 for oil production.
