EDF sells US and Canada power business to KKR
SAN DIEGO, June 29, 2026 – EDF has signed an agreement to sell EDF Power Solutions in the US and Canada to private equity firm KKR, EDF announced on Friday.
EDF Power Solutions develops, builds and operates renewable power plants, storage assets, microgrids and smart EV charging infrastructure in the US and Canada. The company’s portfolio of renewable assets in the US and Canada had a total net generation capacity of 5.6 GW as of 31 March 2026.
Upon completion of the transaction, KKR will take over both the assets and the operations of the business. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Reuters reported in November 2025 that EDF CEO Bernard Fontana was considering the sale of the company’s renewables unit in the US and Canada, placing the value of the deal at nearly EUR 4billion. The proceeds would be channelled towards maintaining EDF’s nuclear generation assets in France, which include 57 operational reactors and six planned units.
EDF Power Solutions has developed 26 GW of wind, solar and battery storage projects in North America and has 17 GW under service contracts. The company also provides renewable energy services, including project development, construction, operations and maintenance.
