Three collaborate in UK North Sea to trim costs

LONDON, November 5, 2015 – Petrofac, Faroe Petroleum and Eni Hewett have agreed to share logistics and accommodation services for their operations in the UK North Sea in an effort to reduce costs, Petrofac said in a statement on Wednesday.

The deal will see the UK oilfield services company Petrofac collaborate with the operators and respective equity owners of the Hewett, Schooner and Ketch gasfields. UK independent Faroe Petroleum holds a 60-percent operating interest in the Schooner and Ketch fields, and Italy’s Eni UK subsidiary Eni Hewiet holds an 89-percent stake in the Hewitt complex.

As an example of the agreement, Faroe will share the use of its Augusta Westland 139 helicopter with Eni Hewett. In return, staff contracted to Faroe’s Schooner and Ketch fields will be able to stay at the adjacent Eni Hewett complex instead of going back to the mainland each day. Petrofac will also have the option to mobilize its workforce across both Faroe and Eni Hewett’s operations.

Deirfre Michie, chief executive of the UK’s regulatory board, Oil & Gas UK, commented in a statement: “If we’re to fulfil Sir Ian Wood’s vision to maximise economic recovery from the UK Continental Shelf, co-operation is crucial in restoring competitiveness. We are now hearing examples up and down the country of companies finding ways to work together in order to revitalise the UK Continental Shelf.”
