Newrest Guyana has established itself as a pioneering player in the management of remote sites, particularly within the offshore oil and gas sector. Since its creation in 2014, the company has grown its activities to four FPSOs, two drilling platforms and one onshore Business & Industry (B&I) site. “Newrest has always had the capacity to anticipate demand and opportunities for expansion,” Olivier Sadran, president of Newrest, told The Energy Year.
As Guyana’s energy industry has expanded rapidly, Newrest has become a key partner to offshore and onshore operators, providing essential services that support long-term, sustainable operations. Local roots and partnerships
Newrest Guyana is the country’s leading international catering service provider. Since 2022, the company has strengthened its local content through its integration into the Guyanese Achieving Togetherness Enterprise (GATE) consortium. Its clients include SBM Offshore, Noble Drilling and ExxonMobil Guyana.
The company is actively engaged in developing local skills, offering training programs and forming partnerships with Guyanese schools and universities, notably the Carnegie School of Home Economics. Through these initiatives, Newrest not only supports national workforce development but also contributes to a sustainable local supply of skilled talent for the energy sector.

A people-centred model
Newrest promotes local employment, achieving an offshore nationalisation rate of 94% and maintaining an exemplary gender equality policy, with women representing 54% of the offshore workforce, with 12 women in managerial roles and one woman serving as executive manager onshore. It offers permanent contracts rather than temporary ones, ensuring job security and professional development.
Newrest Guyana fully complies with local regulations, including local content certificates, NIS and GRA registration, and Ministry of Labour audits. The company offers stable jobs and develops CSR initiatives, notably through responsible purchasing with local producers such as Plympton Farms.

Expanding with the market
In 2025, Newrest renewed its contract with SBM for four FPSOs and secured the management of the cafeteria catering services at ExxonMobil’s headquarters in Georgetown.
Newrest’s operational footprint in Guyana today includes the FPSO Liza Destiny, FPSO Liza Unity, FPSO Liza Prosperity and FPSO One Guyana as well as the Noble Sam Croft and Noble Tom Madden drilling platforms. Together, these projects illustrate the scale and versatility of Newrest’s work, which integrates catering, accommodation and facilities management to enhance comfort, nutrition and safety in demanding offshore and onshore environments.

Training and innovation
Newrest supports the skills development of its Guyanese employees through training provided by certified expatriates and immersion in realistic working environments. Employees may also receive international training within the company’s production units in England, as shown by the experience of two women chefs who travelled to London for this purpose or the Chefs’ participation in the Chefs Unlimited seminars in Türkiye and Brazil.
Innovation continues to underpin this growth. “Data has been a major focus for the Group over the past decade. It helps to refine logistics both internally and for clients,” Sadran said. The company’s proprietary ERP system ensures traceability, optimises supply chains and improves coordination between onshore and offshore operations, contributing to greater efficiency and reduced waste.
